To preface Davids letter, yesterday was a preview of sorts, in which we were able to talk about and demonstrate our site to agents en mass.  Last night I think I speak for all of us when I say that I went home with a feeling of contentment and accomplishment, a few hours later I got this from David which I think tells the story better than I am able:

This is something worth reading, it is a bright light for us all.

Tonight, was a very important night, and Robyn (R) suggested I should write it down. Disclaimer: The agent who called to invite us only called one day in advance so the scene painted below only allowed us about 6 hours to prepare, but the lessons are still beyond value.

Nalin, Michael, and I all attended the DFW Realtors Chile Cook-off to get agents to sign up for our referral process, our most hopeful product at HomeProdigy, and I felt that I must document this critical moment in the history of HomeProdigy.com.

Let me first set the seen, I with no other word to better describe it best, I HATE being in large groups of people that I do not know. Getting ready, driving too[sic], and walking in I only felt the feeling of utter disgust of mingling with people I do not know. To my surprise, the Chile Cook-off was being held in a medium sized room, probably no bigger than a large den or dinning room, smaller than expected, also to my conflicted surprise there were so many agents present, moving from the front to the very, very, very back, where our table was setup. Due to our late arrival we claimed the last and worst spot in the room. The odds were completely against us on placement alone.

The Table -
We had shoved, in a corner a 4x4 card table. OUR POSTER was a huge 11x17 inch, and seemed in comparison to the other vendors, the size of a post card, in a word embarrassing. We had brought drinks, we had very little ice, large red cups and to start 1 liter of soda, but Jill had so generously mixed up a jug of Crystal Light Pink Lemonade. Therefore due to our supply each cup looked as if it contained a sip of refreshment. Not exactly something to attract the masses. Oh, and did I mention that we were setup behind the commercial grade juice stand. Still Michael refusing to admit defeat, decided we did not have near the quantities required and decided to go for more supplies. Let me restate, the most social of the three was off in a flash to re-up on refreshments which were unlikely to be consumed. Perhaps a tactical mistake, but you will see the outcome was unaffected.

The Mingling -
There together two socially inept programmers set shaking, and a little sweaty, at our 4x4 table, which we had now so beautifully covered with a vinyl brown table cloth that it help mask our completely inexperience. I said to Nalin, in a more than a dramatic tone, “I had never wanted to run from a building so bad”, Nalin more coolly suggested we buy tickets for chili voting, It was a good distraction, and I got the tickets. So off we went with our tickets, business cards ready, and flyers in hand. The plan was a mediocre success, mainly because of our truly inexperienced salesmanship skills, and at least in my case a small phobia for large groups of people. Around the second cup of chili I looked back at our barely visible both and noticed Michael was back. He was vigorously restocking supplies.
